In the third installment of the Significance series, we begin with Maggie and Caleb in the clutches of a new enemy; the Virtuoso council. Not only do they have to deal with the consequences of taking the lives of the Watsons and the council attempting to take Maggie away to keep their precious Visionary safe, but they must deal with Marla as well. All are determined to undermine, control and use Caleb and Maggie's rare gifts for their own uses, some wish to destroy them entirely. Then Maggie's father and Bish are threatened but the council forbids the presense of humans. Peter and the family fight and stand beside them every step of the way to save Maggie's father, to keep Caleb and Maggie together when the corrupted council is so set on keeping them apart and to stop Marla and whatever she has up her sleeve. Then Maggie has the shock of her life when she discovers something about her real father. It may change everything for everyone. Stay tuned as the story continues.

Shelly Crane never ceases to amaze me with her ability to craft a wonderful continuation of one of my favorite series. Now, I am eagerly awaiting book four.
Defiance begins just where we left off. Caleb and Maggie arrive at the reunification only to be bombarded with hostility from the Watson clan. Everyone is not only in awe of Maggie, but also frightened when she becomes angry and sends out her energy ribbons. It is Maggie's mission throughout the story to prove she is just like them, an Ace, and shouldn't be treated any differently because of her title. Can she be what everyone needs her to be, the one to bring back the imprints?
I really enjoyed reading Defiance. Maggie is struggling to keep it together when she is constantly being told what to do. She is supposed to be the Visionary, the leader off all Aces. Caleb spends a good bit of this installment fending off the Watson clan and their attempts to harm Maggie. The entire Jacobson family is watching Maggie's back and trying to comfort her when everything begins to head south. But, I think the best thing about this book is that Maggie accepts who she is as the Visionary and embraces her abilities.
Overall, this was everything I hoped the third book would be and more. If only the fourth book was coming out soon.

The Reunification and the introduction to the different clans and their members, and the members of the council was a great new addition to an already wonderful story. I enjoyed that Maggie lost some of the whine and fought for what she knew was right. ANd I love that Caleb stands by her side no matter what. Bish and Jen and Kyle and Lynne and Maggies dad.... the whole Jacobson clan. Love these characters and the strength they show throughout the story. Can't wait to read your review of Independence!
