If I could give Want more than 5 stars, I would. From page one it captured my heart and took me on a ride that I won't forget. Stephanie Lawton wrote an astounding novel that broke my heart and somehow put it back together.
Julianne Casquette has been playing piano since she saw a performance on TV when she was little. It inspired her to want to play it better. Many years later it comes down to the application to New England Conservatory and the live performance. The months to come are filled with many bumps and detours, but will she be accepted in the end?
When we meet Juli, we come to learn about her home life. While we don't get to know all the details at first, they slowly emerge. I found this to be the best part of the novel because her teacher, Isaac Laroche, is closed off and doesn't share much of himself, but over time as he opens up, Juli's story unfolds as well. It wasn't till halfway through that I came to this realization.
Want had everything I want in a novel: romance, personal struggle, overcoming of a weakness, and in the end, an understanding. My attention and need to know what happened continued to build the more I read. I was hooked.
Overall, Want was a heart-wrenching story that kept me on the edge of my seat. A new favorite and a must read for all who love contemporary YA.

I haven't read many book dealing with music. You review definitely makes me want to try Want.
I am on such a YA Contemporary fix right now, and this sounds right up my alley! I think we also have the same criteria for what we like in contemporary books, so your 5-star rating only makes me want to read it more! Plus, I love music and play the piano, so this kinda sounds like an absolute must-read. Thanks for the great review and giveaway! :)
