The thing to remember with Harry Potter is 1. It's fantasy. If you don't like fantasy, you'll probably feel "meh" about Harry Potter, and 2. It ages as the books go. It starts out very middle grade and evolves to be darker and more adult as the series goes on.

Oooh, and I like your way of choosing your next book :)

Understandable... in 7th grade, if you didn't get past the first few books, they might have just been to kiddy for you... they really do age, writing and plot-wise, as they go... then again, some people just don't like Harry Potter, LOL, there's nothing wrong with that either!!!
