Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

My Review:

Two words: blown away. Ada Adams elegantly crafted a world that welcomes vampires. Not only was it detailed and exciting, but it captured me from page one and I never wanted to put it down.

Dawn, a nineteen year old vampire, has been training all her life per her father's request. He has never let her go out on a mission for fear she will get hurt, but he finally relents. She is sent to Angel Creek to train four vampires to become the towns protectors. Instead of a quick and easy task, she is greeted by four incompetent trainees. 

Let me introduce you to Dawn. She is strong, independent, and a leader. She was raised to be able to take care of herself because her dad always kept her at arms length and her mom died when she was born. She is considered one of the best fighters of her time and is giddy with excitement when her dad finally lets her go out on a mission. Then we have her two love interests, Sebastian and Ethan. I know what your thinking, "Ugh, love triangle. Again?" No, this is not the case. Each of the guys shares a moment with Dawn, but when she is with one, she can't help but think of the other. Both guys bring something different to the table. Sebastian is a broody vampire who can't help his curiosity towards Dawn. Ethan was the first human she met in Angel Creek. 

I loved everything this book had to offer, but I'm only going to mention a few things that really stood out. First and foremost, Dawn wasn't weak and in need of a knight in shining armor. Her father prepared her for her future and made sure she would never have to depend on anyone for her safety or well-being. A lot of young adult novels paint a picture with a weak and needy main character. I loved that Dawn wasn't one of these girls.  I also loved that the vampires were romanticized. They were well accepted and looked kindly upon by humans. We don't see this often in vampire novels. Normally, they are blood-sucking abominations, not protectors. Finally, no insta-love! The relationships that are formed between each of the characters happens over the entire course of the book. No instant connections, just slow and stead getting to know each other.

There was nothing that I didn't like about this book. Ada provided so much detail and background information on her vamps that I never felt like I was missing something because everything I needed to know, or wanted to know, was laid out for me.

Overall, I loved ReVamped and can't wait to see what happens in book two! I highly recommend this book if you love vampires and want to see them accepted into society.

Guest Post:

Ada has provided me with a scene from Ethan's POV that she would like to share with you. This scene was great from Dawn's POV, but provides some insight into Ethan's feelings for her.

“Balcony Scene” – Ethan’s POV

I paused by the sliding doors, taking a moment to drink her in. Dawn was leaning against the balcony railing, her gaze focused on something far off in the distance. The bright moon bathed her dark hair in silver, as if shining a spotlight on the only girl in the world that truly mattered.

As I approached, she spun around, her eyes widening at the sight of my bare chest.

“Does it hurt?” she asked, motioning at the bandages.

Like hell. “Just a little. It’s healing very quickly,” I said, smiling reassuringly.

She exhaled, the tension in her shoulders dissipating.

“You saved me,” I said, moving closer. The balcony was narrow, its old, wooden platform barely large enough to contain two people.

“Actually, you’re the one who saved me,” she replied, taking a slight step back. “You jumped in front of an arrow that was heading my way. You’re definitely the hero tonight.”

“Still, if it wasn’t for you…” I trailed off, quickly closing the distance between us.

I wanted to be near her. To touch her. Without thinking, I placed my hand on her shoulder, and pulled her into an embrace. Her lips parted in a silent gasp, but she didn’t resist. She relaxed her body against mine, and for a brief moment, I felt like she was a part of me. Her skin was cool, but her touch radiated heat. I could feel her blood rushing through my veins, enveloping my entire body in its warmth. My wound burned and my chest felt like it was about to combust, but those particular sensations had very little to do with pain.

When we broke apart, I fought the urge to pull her back into me.

“You’re beautiful,” I said, my mind brimming with thoughts of the many ways in which she enticed me. It was much more than physical beauty that drew me to Dawn. She was strong, intelligent, and caring. Even her slight shyness was endearing.

Unable to restrain myself any longer, I slowly leaned in, bringing my lips toward hers.

“You’re under my spell!” she suddenly gasped, pulling away from me.

I chuckled, nodding. “A little bit.” More like a lot.

She shook her head. “No, I mean, you drank my blood. Sometimes, when a human drinks blood from a vampire, they can experience really strong feelings toward that vampire,” she sputtered nervously. “Back in the day, some vampires fed humans their blood just to enslave them.”

I tried to contain my laughter, but another chuckle escaped my lips.

“Do you really think you’ve put me under some vampire spell, Dawn?” I teased.

She had no clue how adorable she truly was.

She hesitated. “Just—I mean…” she exhaled, looking down.

I cupped her chin in my hand, gently lifting her face back toward mine.

“You’re right. Your blood.” I winked. “That must be it.”
