Nothing much going on...

....there really isn't. I finished out my week with naps and coffee.

Friday I got my first order from Sand Cloud in...

2 XL Towels: Aloe (top) & Strawberry Acid Wash (bottom)
20oz Glass Water Bottle

These towels are HUGE!!
62" x 72"
I didn't quite comprehend this when I ordered..

Like... It's not even fully opened and it's hanging off my bed.
These are super lightweight too!
I actually packed one of the towels up with 2 books and the water bottle to go read in the park Saturday afternoon. Everything fit perfectly in my small Michael Kors tote.

What's really awesome about Sand Cloud?
They donate 10% of profits to their Marine Life Partners.
If you follow them on Instagram they post beach cleanups ALL THE TIME!
I LOVE the beach.

You can save 15% on your order using code ERENCICH438 at checkout.
I'll definitely be ordering more.

So what else did I do....

I put forth some effort and went out all day Saturday.
It was mid/upper 80s here in San Antonio so I went to one of the outdoor malls.
Returned an order for American Eagle, bought some German Chocolate & Cotton Candy, and picked up a Funko Pop from the Care Bears line... Tenderheart.

Realizing I only needed one more to complete the collection I drove over to a different Barnes & Nobel and ended up finding the one I was looking for... Funshine.

Yes, I bought TWO.
But look at their bellies...
The one on the Left is perfect, Right side is upside down.
Thinking long term I couldn't pass the oopsie up.

Later that day I was in my room unpacking my books, towel, and water bottle from reading and I accidentally butt dialed one of my friends on Snapchat...

...how do you do that? I didn't even have the app open.

Sunday I stayed in bed attempting to read all day. Yes, attempting. I'm still trying to get through the 3rd and final book in the Arkwell Academy Trilogy. It's really like the last 75 pages that get all exciting. The rest is kinda drawn out. Ugh... half the book to go.

That being said I'm gonna go be sad because Starbucks fudged my order this morning. I'm sure you can imagine my disgruntled face....

Here's some amusement for ya...

Hello Hello!

No, I haven't forgotten about you. I've just been a tad busy...

It's been quite the week already and it's only Wednesday.

So Monday my day started out like this...
...my coffee is super extra as my buddy, Brewer, would say. It's supposed to taste like caramel then once you swallow its got this kick of chocolate covered raspberries which is like heaven. It was all raspberry flavor and no caramel or chocolate on Monday.

But then later that day we went to get lunch...
...and Brewer got a kick out of my brownie chomping abilities.

THEN Tuesday happened. Tuesday just started off bad...
...my breakfast made quite the mess. Then we went to check in with our platoon sergeant...

...and Brewer got all crabby so we went to Starbucks where I surprised him...

...and no, I never got that nap. Instead I finished reading A Fractured Light by Jocelyn Davies and started A Radiant Sky.

BUT one good thing about Tuesday, April 24th... my bestest friends birthday. Now, if you know me then you know that when it comes to my friends I tend to spoil... well I've gone above and beyond the spoil level... like I think I'm at 10 books plus other stuff which I can't share on here in case she reads this like a good best friend would. But I'll definitely share a picture of the ginormous package she will be getting once EVERYTHING gets here and I've wrapped it all. I'm waiting on 3 more packages to come in the mail, so that's something to look forward to and it's kept me super busy.

And today... well today wasn't eventful. I had physical therapy at 7, so no breakfast or coffee with Brewer. However, because he "needed" me today he now owes me coffee AND a muffin tomorrow morning... so there's that.

Ohhh!!! I subscribed to The Bookworm Box FINALLY!!!

What's everyone else been up to?

Hello Lovelies!

Hello Hello Hello

It's been a couple years and I've been all over the place.

LITERALLY!

I moved from...

West Virginia
to
South Carolina
to
Georgia
to
North Carolina
to
Texas

...over the course of 4 years!

I've taken time off from reading,
got into it a little,
fell out of it,
and back into it again.

Now that I'm in Texas I've been given some downtime from Army Life... if that's what you want to call it. I'm currently waiting on orders to go from my current location in Texas to a different location in Texas so I can have hip surgery. During the day I'm really not doing a whole lot... Get up at 4am, go to formation, go workout for 40 minutes at the gym, check in with my NCO between 7-8am, hit up any of my pre-surgery appointments, and relax until 5pm when we have another formation. And it's been like this for about 3 weeks now and I'm reading again or binge watching TV if my brain gets fried. Oh, I've also been spending way too much money online shopping... Oops!

So to make a long story short, part of me wants to pick back up on this whole blogging thing I was doing soooooooo many moons ago. However, this time it won't all be about books. I guess you can say that my changing the blog name way back when was kind of a foretelling of my future. Where this used to be "Doodle's Book Blog" where I strictly blogged about books, it's now "Bookish Diversion" meaning I just get distracted by them. So what I'm planning on doing is more of a life blog. Blogging about my day to day adventures, to include my upcoming drugged up post-surgery shenanigans, book reviews, product reviews, relationships, and other silly things I think are worth putting out there. So bear with me over the coming week while I get back into the swing of things.

What I'm Doing Now:
- Reading A Beautiful Dark Trilogy by Jocelyn Davies
- Reading The Arkwell Academy Trilogy by Mindee Arnett
- Reading MANGA!! Some turd got me into it. LOL
- Spending money on clothes... I'll be sure to rant about a company soon!
- Physical Therapy 3ish times a week for pre-surgery strenghtening
- BEING BORED OUT OF MY MIND

So Where Does That Leave Me?
That leaves me asking you guys to send me ideas...
What should I post about?
What do you want me to rant about?
What are you interested in seeing?
Book recommendations?

All the input is greatly appreciated!!!

Hello All!

Hello All!!

It's been a long time since I've checked on my blog. I'm finally settled in at my new home and with my new job. I'm hoping to find time to update this more regularly. I've been reading about 1-2 books per month since June and I'm hoping to keep that trend.

I've been reading more and more paperback/hardcover books and because of that I may start giving them away because it doesn't make sense for me to keep all these books in my small room. I just don't have the space. So you may end up seeing giveaways on here as I read. Who knows. I'll be back soon. xoxo

{Review} I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell

I Remember You
by Cathleen Davitt Bell
Pages: 310
Source: Purchased
Available as of February 10, 2015
Amazon
For fans of THE FUTURE OF US comes an engrossing story of two teens, whose love for each other is tested by time and fate.

Lucas and Juliet couldn’t be more different from each other. But from the moment Lucas sees Juliet, he swears he remembers their first kiss. Their first dance. Their first fight. He even knows what’s going to happen between them—not because he can predict the future, but because he claims to have already lived it.

Juliet doesn’t know whether to be afraid for herself or for Lucas. As Lucas’s memories occur more frequently, they also grow more ominous. All Juliet wants is to keep Lucas safe with her. But how do you hold on to someone you love in the present when they’ve begun slipping away from you in the future?

Review
Oh my lord! Where to begin...

From page one I was captivated by Bell's words. I had a hard time putting this book down and walking away from it.

Told from Juliet's POV is the story of her relationship with her high school sweetheart. He remembers her. He is getting flashes of their relationship before it unfolds. Flashes of him in the desert sand, flat topped buildings, and sheets on clothes lines. He remembers her dress, their first kiss... and somehow he makes it all happen sooner. He is remembering his future, their future.

I was blown away by the detail in this story. It starts in 1994 and Lucan can foresee the future. He sees his life before it happens and he thinks he crazy. Juliet thinks he is crazy. This story was a climax. My heartbeat fluctuated with the details on the page. I swear my heart was racing for the last100 pages. I was so invested in these two characters that I was worried I would miss my next formation.

Once Lucas started learning of his future life and what would happen to his world, I began to question how the story would end. Would it be happy or sad? Would my tears be of joy or heartbreak? I was literally (ask my roommate) sitting on the edge of my seat while reading the last 10 pages. I was so glued to the book that I didn't register text messages and my roomies announcement that formation was canceled.

Needless to say, pick up this book!!! It is rare to find a story that makes you forget there is an outside world. I Remember You is romantic, uplifting, and by far one of the best books I've ever read. This is a must read.

{Review} Broken Blood by Heather Hildenbrand

Broken Blood
by Heather Hildenbrand
Series: Dirty Blood (#5)
Source: Provided by Author
Available as of March 10, 2015
Amazon
I thought watching my Werewolf boyfriend get arrested for murder was the worst experience of my life. But then I was knocked out and dragged off to a cell of my own by the very people who were supposed to protect me from danger.

I thought being held prisoner in solitary confinement for weeks on end was the worst experience of my life. But then a visitor came, and I realized I’d been wrong all along. There are worse things than torture and death. Much worse.

He wants my blood. More than that, he wants to get into my head. To use my bond to control his army, to wipe the world clean of anything with dirty blood. I can’t let that happen, but if I don’t he’ll kill every single person I’ve ever cared about—beginning with my Werewolf pack.

The prophecy said I would have to make an impossible choice, but I must be doing this wrong—so far every choice I’ve made has only led to more pain and danger and death. Hunters are pitted against Werewolves and I’m alone in my war against Gordon Steppe. I can’t fight him off anymore; all I can do is try to keep him out of the important places. And I’m failing at even that.

I thought the demons were out there, clearly marked and clinging to the shadows. But they’re not. The monsters are within the ranks of those sworn to protect. The enemy is among us.

Review
As everyone who visits here should know, I LOVE Heather Hildenbrand and her books. I've loved everything I've read of hers and I will continue to read everything she publishes. Broken Blood is by far the best of the Dirty Blood series.

It's the final chapters of Tara's wild ride with Steepe. She wakes to find herself in a cell, forced to do what he wants if she wants her friends and her pack to survive.

Unlike the rest of the Dirty Blood books, Tara is still her strong, independent self, but she is in the dark about a lot of things that are going on. Granted some of those things are to protect her and her friends, but she doesn't have the same amount of control we are used to... at least not until the end.

I loved that Tara is given choices that will either put her in a terrible position or harm her friends. We get to see her true colors and while I agreed with most of her choices, I probably would have given in sooner for a few. I also loved that I was shocked by what happened in the last handful of chapters. Heather threw a few curveballs that I wasn't expecting, but the ending of this series had its way of coming to where I thought all end.

Overall, I loved this series and highly recommend it to EVERYONE!! Heather's books are a fantastic way to pass the time and are always at the top of my list when friends ask me what they should read. If you haven't started this paranormal adventure, do it now! If you have finish the series!!!!

{Guest Post} Cold Blood Ch 25 - Alex's POV

Cold Blood
by Heather Hildenbrand
Series:  Dirty Blood (#2)
Available as of November 22, 2011
Amazon
Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected. For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea. So between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming committee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

Chapter Twenty-Five: Alex

The radio crackled out some country song that was nothing more than a tenor voice whining for more whiskey. I didn’t pay it any attention but I didn’t turn it off, either. The background noise helped numb the fear that had settled so deeply into my chest, it left an ache similar to what I imagined a heart attack to feel like.

Tara had almost died.

I couldn’t shake the image of her lying on her back with that … thing hovering over her, about to take a bite. Each time I allowed myself to remember, the memory swept me up and threatened to overwhelm me. I took a steadying breath and gripped the wheel tighter. I had to think of something else—anything else—to distract myself.

Unwittingly, another image floated in my mind. Tara in the hotel room we’d shared for a few hours. So much of her skin bared. Bruised. Swollen. It had been both beautiful and horrific seeing her that way. And then lying next to her, sleeping, and the kiss … it had been more than I’d hoped for, her kissing me back.

She certainly hadn’t kissed me back that day in the woods. Then again, I was pretty sure she’d been in shock. I hadn’t exactly planned it, but the way her face looked in that moment … fear of Miles, complete trust in me. And then she’d been angry. There was nothing more beautiful than an angry Tara. Or so I’d thought until she’d kissed me the way she had in the hotel room. The memory of that feeling would warm me for many, many nights to come.

“How bad is this going to be for me, exactly?” Tara asked.

I kept my gaze trained on the road but her question jolted me back to harsh reality. The kiss was over. Our time together, blocking out the world and pretending it didn’t exist, was over. We were almost back to school.

“That depends,” I answered her.

“On what?”

“On our method of entry. Do you want to announce your return?”

“Um, do I have a choice?”

I knew what she was asking and I’d already worked out the answer. The shoulder widened just ahead. Perfect. “Yes.” I pulled over and got out.

We left the truck and began our hike through the darkened woods. It took my eyes a moment to adjust and then shapes of trees and the familiar, yet narrow, path came into focus. I kept my steps small so she could keep up and led the way.

She asked me about the logistics of returning this way: the truck, the wards (as if they worked anymore). I could hear the irritation in my voice as I answered her but I couldn’t help it. We were almost back to reality. There was so much to say. And she’d rather talk about the damned truck.

She must’ve caught on because I heard, “Alex, wait.”

I kept walking.

Her hand closed over my arm, my skin heating automatically where her fingers touched me. Right now, I hated my body.

“What’s your problem?” she demanded.

“Nothing. We’re almost back to school. I assume you’ll want to forget about anything that happened between us once we’re there. I’m simply switching gears to accommodate.” I felt petulant and immature saying it, but I didn’t care.

“Switching gears to accommodate?” she echoed. I could hear her temper rising in her voice. Something in my gut warmed in anticipation of a good fight. “What are you, a robot?” I kept my mouth shut, willing her to go on, to say something that mattered. “I didn’t say anything because … well, it’s complicated. You know that.” She paused. The fire had gone out of her voice. “You haven’t said anything, either.”

“You’re right. I guess I figured I made things clear.” I let sarcasm drip from my words. Baiting her.

She laughed and my nerves pricked. “Have you ever actually had a girlfriend? Because you really suck at this.” I opened my mouth to snap back a retort, but she went on, “Don’t answer that. Seriously, though, you can’t kiss a girl and expect her to automatically know your feelings through osmosis or something. Besides, when I met you, you hated me. And now you’re kissing me. So, pardon me if that leavese me a little confused.”

“I didn’t hate you.”

“Pot-ay-toes, pot-ah-toes. You were disgusted, at least.”

I shook my head and the words were out before I could stop them. “You don’t disgust me, Tara. You amaze me, impress me, surprise me, entertain me. You definitely don’t disgust me.”

I clamped my mouth shut, horrified and elated that I’d finally said it. I couldn’t take it back, no matter her response, but I didn’t really want to, now that it was out there.

She didn’t answer and my heart plummeted to somewhere around my knees. “Do I do any of those things for you?” I asked, hating how desperate I sounded. And felt.

She stared at me, the whites of her eyes barely visible in the darkness. “Yes,” she whispered.

My heart soared. I wondered if he could hear us from where I knew he waited in the trees up ahead. I hoped so. Something twisted inside me really, really hoped so. I allowed myself three seconds to enjoy my triumph and then reality came crashing in around me. “And does Wes do any of those things for you?” I asked, trying not to choke on the name.

“Yes,” she repeated, her eyes darting away.

I changed my mind. Hopefully he couldn’t hear us.

The ache in my chest returned—for different reasons. It was my own fault. I’d known the answer the moment I’d asked.

“I think it’s best that we leave it there then. For now.” She didn’t speak and I knew the moment was done. “Let’s get you back to school and focus on getting Miles.”

“Okay.” She sounded defeated.

Exactly how I felt.

Forty-six.
That’s how many hybrids survived the Hunter attack in the woods after I revived them with an injection of my blood. That’s how many followed me home to Frederick Falls. And that’s how many were now mentally linked to me through a blood bond.

Two days. Three valium. Fourteen hours of sleep.
That’s what it took to realize I wasn’t losing my mind as a result of the noise in my own head.

Sixteen.
That’s how many days have passed since I almost killed Alex. That’s how many days I’ve sat by his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. To ease the guilt, to understand his betrayal, to remember the exact shade of brown in his eyes.

Zero.
That’s my chances of skating by with Gordon Steppe and the Hunter Council. They want me for questioning. I’m afraid what’ll happen if I give them answers.

Review
It has been some time since I posted a Dirty Blood review.... or any review for that matter. Since my training is finally slowing down I sent a message to Heather Hildenbrand asking if she needed more reviews for her Dirty Blood Series. Getting back into the story line wasn't difficult and I quickly found my way back into some of my favorite characters lives.

Alex is in a coma and Tara is anxiously awaiting his wake-up. Too bad Steepe is getting closer to having his way and she may not be able to stick around long enough to see him wake and ease her guilt. Little does she know that her world is about to tip on its axis.

As I stated before, it didn't take me long to get back into the story line, maybe a chapter or two. Remembering who the characters were and what role they played came back to me quickly even after a two year break from this series. Being able to fall right back into a storyline after so long away from it is a feat and I applaud Heather and her ease of doing this without repeating all the big detail or giving a brief summary of what happened in the prior book(s).

To say that I love Tara is an understatement because it is rare to find a strong female lead. She is the female who wants to jump right into the fight regardless of who is standing with her. Some may call this reckless (and it kinda is...), but at least she can be reasoned with. Wes, per usual, is willing to do anything for Tara. He's still insecure, but he wouldn't let her go anywhere without him regardless of what consequence he could face.

I think what I love most about this series is the camaraderie within Tara's pack/group of friends. Even when they don't always agree they still find a way to get from point a to point b. I love that Tara is finally realizing that she can do great things and that she needs her pack to succeed. In the prior books, she didn't want to hear her pack in her head, but now she is coming to terms with how her pack shapes her.

Overall, I'm extremely grateful for the time I found in my training schedule to get back to Heather's amazing werewolf series. Don't get lost in the sauce by reading this first. Go back to Dirty Blood and start from square one. If you enjoy paranormal werewolf storylines you'll most likely enjoy this series. After years of reading paranormal and getting burnt out on it I still look forward to the next book in this series.

Review
Last year I received an email from my friend Heather Hildenbrand asking if I'd be interested in reading a book by one of her friends. I said sure. The book I read was amazing and you can find my review for The Man Test by Amanda Aksel here. Over the holidays I was home on leave and got an email from that same author asking how Army life was and if I had time to read and review her latest book, The Commitment Test. I couldn't say no and I'm so glad I found time to read it....

Every woman is looking for a guy that makes them forget anyone else exists. Marin Johns found that guy when she was out to prove that all men cheat. All that's on her mind now is getting a rock on her finger. The only problem is he isn't asking.

Just like in The Man Test, Marin takes things into her own hands to get what she wants. First she was out to prove that all men cheat, even found a book on it. Now, she's on a mission to get her man to propose, and of course there is a book on how to do that too. The Commitment Test was just like The Man Test in respect to Marin finding a book and playing out what it says to do and of course the humor in the shenanigans she gets into when going about getting what she wants. It's the same group of friends we grew to love and the same crazy therapist who wants to walk down the aisle.

To say that I loved everything about this book isn't a lie, but it doesn't help the reader determine if they'd be interested. Specifically I loved that Marin still has her own therapist who helps her indirectly. I loved that we still have that "OMG...are you seriously going to do that." reaction when we know that Marin will do anything to get things to go the way she wants. Also, I love that I knew how the book would end, because come on who wouldn't want Marin to get what she wants, but the way it happened made me love it.

Unlike in The Man Test, I didn't feel like I lost faith in men...quite the opposite actually. However, I can tell you that I did feel like this is a great example of how men are in general. They aren't as perceptive to a females wants/wishes/needs as we'd like them to be. This is something I can deal with.

Overall, I highly recommend The Commitment Test to anyone who has read The Man Test. If you haven't read the first book yet you are missing out. I am in love with these characters and look forward to more from Amanda Aksel in the future!

On Hiatus

Over the last handful of months I have been busy getting ready for my departure for the U.S. Army. The time I could devote to this blog was limited and I wasn't been able to keep up with it the way I would have liked. So, I am sadly putting Bookish Diversion on an indefinite hiatus because, for the foreseeable future (7-10 months), I will not have any time to devote to reading. I'm hoping to get back into blogging and sharing my love of books when time permits.

Marin Johns is San Francisco’s Pollyanna couples therapist. She’s months away from wedded bliss when she discovers her fiancé is having an affair. After nursing her broken heart with Kleenex and break-up songs, she adopts a new brand of thinking when she uncovers a tell-all book that proves all men are liars and cheaters who will do and say anything so they’re not found out. No exceptions.

In an attempt to convince her friends of her newfound truth, she begins a fictitious relationship with James, a do-gooder from Montana. Marin seeks any means necessary to catch him cheating from hiring a PI to enlisting the help of a fidelity tester. Will her new "boyfriend" beat the statistic or will Marin regret the satisfaction of being right?

Review
Everyone knows I love Heather Hildenbrand. Well, one of her friends wrote a book and was looking for reviewers so I told Heather to pass my info along. Talk about best idea ever. Amanda Aksel wrote a charming debut that left me feeling a wide range of emotions and changed my view of some topics regarding men.

No woman ever thinks that her man will cheat... until they walk in on it. Marin Johns thought everyone had that one special someone out there waiting for them, that everyone could have what her parents have, a happily ever after.

There are no words that could convey how amazingly awesome this book is. Marin was amusing to say the least. When I say amusing I don't just mean her comments and actions, I'm specifically talking about her thought process. I couldn't help but laugh my way through her story. She was out to prove that all men are lying, cheating bastards (pardon my French), and in the process turned into a basket case and I could see all the ways every choice she made could go wrong. It doesn't help that she herself is a couples therapist and should know better. I LOVED it.

So what specifically did I enjoy about this book? I loved that Marin reacted exactly as I would have had I caught a guy cheating. I found it ironic that a couples therapist happened to be the one it happened to and it resulted in this huge ordeal. I also liked that one of her best friends was anti-relationship and fully supportive of her "test" while the pro-relationship/happily-ever-after-can-happen other best friend told her not to do this. It's like she had her own personal devil and angel on her shoulders.

While I am completely and entirely in love with the story, at times I felt like I lost faith in men. I mean, I know this is fiction and what not, but being a psychology major I'm starting to question whether humans, as a species, were made to be monogamous. While I questioned the ability of a man to stay faithful, I also thought about what spurred Marin's idea to prove all were cheaters. It all started with a suggestion and that just goes to show what the power of suggestion can do.

Overall, I highly recommend The Man Test to anyone who wants to be amused by a therapist. It was witty, clever, and ingenious. Definitely my favorite read so far this year.

Pet Peeves? Everyone has them. Could you tell us about a few of yours?
I think pet peeves are so strange, even mine. I have two main pet peeves. Toilet paper should roll from above, not below. If yours is wrong, I will change it. The other is when adults make exaggerated excuses for getting out of things like projects or a day at the office. You’re a grown-up, if you can’t or don’t want to do something just say so. I don’t need a song and dance.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would you want and why?
I’ve always loved the notion of witches flying on brooms. I want that superpower. Sometimes I have dreams I can fly, and it’s very freeing.

If we were to take a look at your nightstand, what book(s) would we find?
Let’s see, I have Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Eat to Live, Cindy Chupack’s The Longest Date, and the first Game of Thrones, which I’m getting through little by little.

When you aren’t writing what do you enjoy doing?
I love laying out on the beach, doing things around the house (cleaning and organizing), or watching my favorite TV shows like Greys Anatomy or Sex and the City.

Name 3 things you always have with you when you are writing?
My laptop, the internet (for research), and a nice cup of tea.

Do you listen to music when you write? If so, can you name a few songs that were playing or inspired you while writing The Man Test?
Music inspires so much of my writing. I’m planning a blog post on this topic. The funny thing is I can’t listen to music and write at the same time. I get so distracted by lyrics. But I do create playlists that I listen to when I’m working on a project. There are so many for The Man Test like Little Lies by Anna Ternheim and Don’t Stop Believing by Journey. The most notable would be Hazy by Rosi Golan and William Fitzsimmons. If The Man Test were a film, Hazy would be the feature song.

Can you describe The Man Test in 10 words or less?
Can a heartbroken couples therapist prove all men are cheaters?

Where did you get the idea for this book?
I’ll never forget when it happened. In April 2008, I was working in a real estate office, and all of the sudden I was struck with inspiration. I quickly wrote down the barebones outline (girl is heartbroken, girl meet boy, etc.). It was like the idea came just for me from the universe or God. I had to write it.

Are any of the characters based off of people you know?
Truth be told, I have a few characters loosely based on people I know. The characters are exaggerated versions of those people. They know who they are . . .

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
Yes, I think many women, and men too, have been in a situation where they’ve become suspicious of their partner’s fidelity. You are not alone. I hope The Man Test will allow readers to live vicariously through Marin’s experience and bring some light to a dark topic. Happy Reading!

{Spotlight} Uncovering You by Scarlett Edwards

Uncovering You
by Scarlett Edwards
Series: Uncovering You (#1)
Available March 27, 2014
When I wake up in a dark, unfamiliar room, I have no idea what's waiting for me in the shadows. My imagination conjures up demons of the worst kind.

Reality is much worse:

A collar with no leash. A prison with no walls. And a life stripped of meaning.

I am presented with a vile contract and asked to sign. It outlines the terms of my servitude. The only information I have about my captor are the two small letters inked at the bottom:

J.S.

Armed with only my memories, I must do everything I can to avoid becoming ensnared in his twisted mind games. But in the end, it all comes down to one choice:

Resist and die.

Or submit, and sign my life away.

Excerpt
In the dark, the hours all mesh together. I can’t sleep. I can’t stop thinking about the vile collar around my neck.
I need to find some way to get it off. My fingers have explored every millimeter of it. There is no weakness to be found.
Every minute that goes by brings me closer to tomorrow’s confrontation. What will the contract say? What demands will my captor have of me?
It does not matter. I will never sign that filthy sheet of paper. I will never willingly surrender my freedom.

{Review} Unmaking Marchant by Ella James

Unmaking Marchant
by Ella James
Series: Love Inc. (#3)
Source: Provided by Author
Available as of February 12, 2014
Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Marchant Radcliffe, owner of the exclusive Love Inc. brothel, is no stranger to darkness. He lost his parents in a plane crash and since college has harbored a secret almost too terrible to bear. He keeps his head above water by pouring his energy into his business—and he’s thrived, despite the dark blot on his soul.

Then, after ten years of good fortune, Marchant’s skeletons start to peek out of the closet, tossing him down a trail of ruin that begins with arson and could end with murder. Because he’s kept his struggles private, he has no one to pull him back from the brink.

After a breakup with her longtime fiancé, Suri Dalton, daughter of one of Silicon Valley’s tech tycoons, has nowhere to go except her BFF’s new penthouse in Las Vegas. The last thing Suri is looking for is a man, but after drowning her woes in wine on the flight over, she stumbles into a torrid make out session with a beautiful stranger—who just so happens to be Marchant Radcliffe, playboy and literal pimp.

Despite an immediate attraction, Suri writes Marchant off as exactly the sort of guy she should avoid. Until Love Inc. goes up in flames, Marchant winds up at the bottom of a swimming pool, and Suri is the only one around to pull him out.

What happens when what you see isn’t what you get? What do you do when destiny is too alluring to resist and too dangerous to survive?

Review
I read Selling Scarlett as soon as it was released and when I heard about Taming Cross, I jumped on it. Unmaking Marchant was no different. When Ella James sent me my review copy on release day I was beyond ecstatic. When I found out that I had a snow day the following day, I hunkered down and read to my hearts content.

Like Selling Scarlett and Taming Cross, Unmaking Marchant followed two other characters around, Marchant and Suri. If you've read Taming Cross, you'll remember a fire... well, Unmaking Marchant picks up just before the fire takes place. We get a nice look into Marchant's life and get answers to questions we didn't even know we had. I enjoyed his and Suri's beginning, but I don't think any story in this series will be as good as Selling Scarlett. This one ends on a cliffhanger. If one sentence was removed, it wouldn't, but needless to say I'm dying for the next book.

Overall, it was definitely a good read. I usually check my progress (percentage wise) while I read, but with this story I went from 47% to 95% and didn't even know it. So, I got lost in it. If you want an book that will make you fall in love with Marchant, if you weren't already, pick this up. If you haven't started the series yet, I highly recommend it.

{Release Day Blitz} Unmaking Marchant by Ella James

Purchase on Amazon or B&N
Marchant Radcliffe, owner of the exclusive Love Inc. brothel outside Vegas, is no stranger to darkness. He lost his sister in childhood and his parents in college. Since his best friend helped him finance the Love Inc. ranch almost ten years ago, Marchant has drowned himself in business—and he’s thrived, despite the heavy secret that has plagued him since his parents’ deaths.

Then, after ten years of good fortune, Marchant’s skeletons start to peek out of the closet, tossing him down a trail of ruin that begins with arson and could end with murder. Because he’s kept his struggles private, he has no one to pull him back from the brink.

Except for Suri Dalton.

After a breakup with her longtime fiancé, Suri, the daughter of one of Silicon Valley’s tech tycoons, has nowhere to go except her BFF’s new penthouse in Las Vegas. This is the third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie's story!

“It’s one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It’s like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holiday’s missed, the birthday’s passed, the memories you didn’t get to make with your family…all for what? It’s not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn’t stay awake for nights on end trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn’t care. Baseball’s a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it’s time to let it go.”

Review
When I heard that J. Sterling was writing a third and final book for Jack & Cassie, I about died. Jack will forever and always be my number one book boyfriend. After all the ups and downs that those two faced in The Perfect Game (my review) and The Game Changer, they deserved a bit of happiness. The Sweetest Game could not have been a better ending to their story. Hell, it couldn't have had a better ending...that epilogue was heartwarming and I cried happy tears. While this final installation provided them with one small blip, the way they worked together and handled everything that life tossed at them (in the end..) made me wonder if any couple today has that kind of life. The Sweetest Game had me bawling my eyes out, laughing hysterically, and just overall happy and amused. It was the perfect ending for the perfect couple. If you haven't started this series do so, if you have, why haven't you finished it?!

{Review, Interview & Giveaway} Tell Me When by Stina Lindenblatt

Tell Me When
by Stina Lindenblatt
Source: Provided by Publisher
Available as of January 20, 2014
Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Amber Scott should be enjoying life as a college freshman. She should be pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She should be working hard to make sense of her precalculus math class.

She shouldn’t be waking up her college roommate with screaming nightmares. She shouldn’t be flashing back, reliving the three weeks of hell she barely survived last year. And she definitely shouldn’t be spending time with sexy player Marcus Reid.

But engineering student Marcus is the only one keeping Amber from failing her math course, so she grudgingly lets him into her life. She never expects the king of hookups will share his painful past. Or that she’ll tell him her secrets in return, opening up and trusting him in a way she thought she’d never be able to again.

When their fragile future together is threatened by a stalker Amber thought was locked away for good, Marcus is determined to protect her. And Amber is determined to protect Marcus…even if that means pushing him away.

Review
When I received an email asking if I would like to review this book, I jumped at it. I wanted to know why this girl woke up screaming in the middle of the night and why she had the nightmares. The idea of this story intrigued me and I had to read it. Stina Lindenblatt did a wonderful job hooking me from page one.

The two main characters, Amber and Marcus, are social opposites. Amber is a shadow of herself and isn't easily trusting of anyone. While Marcus had a rough childhood and has turned into a womanizer because of what he went though. Anyone could see how Amber's trust in Marcus would be nonexistent, yet they become close in the time they spend together.

The story itself was fantastic. I didn't expect some of the things that occurred, but I also guessed a lot of the gory details. I loved that we got to see everything from not just Amber's side, but Marcus's as well because they both have wounds that are trying to heal and to understand why one of them does something is heavily dependent on where their mind is at. This story wouldn't be nearly the same if we only got to see it from one side. I also enjoyed the supporting characters, specifically Amber's roommate. She was such an annoying little she-demon, but we find out why towards the end.

There are two things that I can think of off the top of my head that bothered me with this book. First, Marcus gives Amber a nickname... Kitten. Being the huge booknerd that I am, I recognize this nickname from The Perfect Game by J. Sterling. I don't want to say that other books can't use or incorporate the same nicknames that are used in other stories, but the first time I saw "Kitten" while reading I automatically thought of Jack and Cassie. Second, after reading, I never really understood why the story was titled "Tell Me When." Normally you get the sense of why books are titled how they are while reading, but I still haven't figured it out.

Overall, Tell Me When was a quick read that kept me interested. My two little qualms are just personal issues that have nothing much to do with the stories content; therefore, it shouldn't deter someone from picking this book up. If you want to read a NA story that will keep you coming back for more, you've found it.

Interview
With Stina Lindenblatt
Pet Peeves? Everyone has them. Could you tell us about a few of yours?
When it comes to books, it drives me nuts when authors end the story on a cliffhanger. I don’t mean the kind of cliffhanger found in Catching Fire. At least the story problem was resolved before the cliffhanger ending. It’s the ones where you wonder if the author forgot to include the final pages of the book that annoy me.

Other pet peeves include leaving kitchen cupboard doors open. I don’t know what it is about them, but I always manage to hit my head on the doors. It also frustrates me when crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing and cars don’t stop. I mean, do they really think they’ll get to work quicker by hitting a pedestrian?

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would you want and why?
My superpower would be anything that would make cleaning my house super quick and super easy. But not only that. The house would be sparkly clean once I’m finished. Like most writers, I never seem to have enough time to clean the house. Deadlines come first. And what can I say? Running helps me when I’m stuck with a plot point. Cleaning toilets doesn’t have the same effect, though I wish it did.

If we were to take a look at your nightstand, what book would we find?
At this moment, I’m reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I’m like a Jodi Picoult virgin. Normally you’ll find a New Adult or edgy YA novel on my nightstand.

When you aren't writing what do you enjoy doing?
I love photography, especially the close-up variety, and I love to read. My newest hobby is checking out Pinterest. I mean, where else can you go and find hot guys, steamy romance, and cuddly kittens? It’s like a tiny patch of heaven all on the computer.

Name 3 things you always have with you when you are writing.
• Diet Dr. Pepper. I don’t drink coffee so this is my caffeine fix.
• My computer. Sometimes I use my PC and sometimes my MacBook Air. It depends what I’m doing.
• Scrivener. It’s an amazing software for writers that I can’t survive without.

Do you listen to music when you write? If so, can you name a few songs that were playing or inspired you while writing Tell Me When?
I wish I could listen to music while I write. Unfortunately I’m easily distracted. If I play songs, I only end up singing (badly) along with them.

Can you describe Tell Me When in 10 words or less?
It’s a sexy story about finding hope, forgiveness, and love.

Where did you get the idea for this book?
I remembered something I once read about stalking. College students are at the highest risk of being stalked than any other population (if you exclude celebrities and the paparazzi who stalk them). While in university, I had to deal with a stalker. Fortunately the outcome wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I researched the topic and decided to write about the life of the victim after the stalker is caught.

Are any of the characters based off of people you know?
There’s a bit of me in both Amber and Marcus, but probably more so with Marcus. He uses sex to deal with his emotional pain, much like I did in university. Other than that, unless it was subconscious, I didn’t base my characters off anyone I know.

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
If you ever suspect you’re being stalked, take it seriously. Stalking can be emotionally traumatic and might end up becoming deadly for yourself or a loved one. If you’re in an abusive relationship, the abuser might add stalking to his list of faults and that too might lead to deadly consequences. Get help! Don’t become a statistic.
