Hunters are pitted against Werewolves and I’m alone in my war against Gordon Steppe. I can’t fight him off anymore; all I can do is try to keep him out of the important places. And I’m failing at even that.

I thought the demons were out there, clearly marked and clinging to the shadows. But they’re not. The monsters are within the ranks of those sworn to protect. The enemy is among us.

As everyone who visits here should know, I LOVE Heather Hildenbrand and her books. I've loved everything I've read of hers and I will continue to read everything she publishes. Broken Blood is by far the best of the Dirty Blood series.

It's the final chapters of Tara's wild ride with Steepe. She wakes to find herself in a cell, forced to do what he wants if she wants her friends and her pack to survive.

Unlike the rest of the Dirty Blood books, Tara is still her strong, independent self, but she is in the dark about a lot of things that are going on. Granted some of those things are to protect her and her friends, but she doesn't have the same amount of control we are used to... at least not until the end.

I loved that Tara is given choices that will either put her in a terrible position or harm her friends. We get to see her true colors and while I agreed with most of her choices, I probably would have given in sooner for a few. I also loved that I was shocked by what happened in the last handful of chapters. Heather threw a few curveballs that I wasn't expecting, but the ending of this series had its way of coming to where I thought all end.

Overall, I loved this series and highly recommend it to EVERYONE!! Heather's books are a fantastic way to pass the time and are always at the top of my list when friends ask me what they should read. If you haven't started this paranormal adventure, do it now! If you have finish the series!!!!

It has been some time since I posted a Dirty Blood review.... or any review for that matter. Since my training is finally slowing down I sent a message to Heather Hildenbrand asking if she needed more reviews for her Dirty Blood Series. Getting back into the story line wasn't difficult and I quickly found my way back into some of my favorite characters lives.

Alex is in a coma and Tara is anxiously awaiting his wake-up. Too bad Steepe is getting closer to having his way and she may not be able to stick around long enough to see him wake and ease her guilt. Little does she know that her world is about to tip on its axis.

As I stated before, it didn't take me long to get back into the story line, maybe a chapter or two. Remembering who the characters were and what role they played came back to me quickly even after a two year break from this series. Being able to fall right back into a storyline after so long away from it is a feat and I applaud Heather and her ease of doing this without repeating all the big detail or giving a brief summary of what happened in the prior book(s).

To say that I love Tara is an understatement because it is rare to find a strong female lead. She is the female who wants to jump right into the fight regardless of who is standing with her. Some may call this reckless (and it kinda is...), but at least she can be reasoned with. Wes, per usual, is willing to do anything for Tara. He's still insecure, but he wouldn't let her go anywhere without him regardless of what consequence he could face.

I think what I love most about this series is the camaraderie within Tara's pack/group of friends. Even when they don't always agree they still find a way to get from point a to point b. I love that Tara is finally realizing that she can do great things and that she needs her pack to succeed. In the prior books, she didn't want to hear her pack in her head, but now she is coming to terms with how her pack shapes her.

Overall, I'm extremely grateful for the time I found in my training schedule to get back to Heather's amazing werewolf series. Don't get lost in the sauce by reading this first. Go back to Dirty Blood and start from square one. If you enjoy paranormal werewolf storylines you'll most likely enjoy this series. After years of reading paranormal and getting burnt out on it I still look forward to the next book in this series.

Olivia Spurgeon has been a good girl her entire life. Her friends have called her Spurgeon the Virgin since 9th grade. Why? Because everyone in her group of friends had already lost there virginity by then. Over the past four years it has been like a foreign object attached to her and even named it something simple.

Virginity.

Now, she's a freshman in college and still hasn't done the deed. All three of her roommates do not have Virginity attached to them and they aren't scared to show it off. Olivia is jealous. She wants what they are having, feeling. One day she finally decides that she doesn't want Virginity attached to her anymore and begins the journey of losing it.

When Ava Michaels contacted me about her debut, I couldn't say no because I'm in love with New Adult books and reading about people more my age. It didn't hurt that Losing Virginity sounded like it would be one funny ride.

I must say that this book had me hooked before I even got 3% in. It didn't take long for Ava to have me laughing and turning pages like it was my job. The main character, Olivia, is this extremely innocent, never-done-a-thing-wrong kinda girl. At the ripe age of 18 she's dying to get rid of her virginity and have the experience that will make her a full-fledged woman. 

The further I read into this story, the harder it was to put down. It was extremely addicting and it helped that the main character was not only funny, but also had a good head on her shoulders. While Olivia's main goal was to lose her virginity, she wouldn't just lay down for anyone. This left me admiring Olivia because she didn't just pick the first guy to walk up to her. Unlike a number of college girls, she wanted to actually date the guy and get to know him first. 

As you may have seen above, this story come with a warning to those who are easily offended. While I'm not easy to offend or embarrass, I frequently found myself blushing at some of the thoughts and comments that came from Olivia and her friends. When I say blushing I mean full on, glad-I'm-not-in-public blushing. I was beat red with a dropped jaw. While the comments and thoughts were vivid and detailed, there were also times when I would die laughing and have to put the book down, reread, or share with friends. 

Overall, I highly recommend Losing Virginity to those over the age of 18 who aren't faint of heart. This book was hysterical and had me quoting lines because they were too good to not share. It is definitely worth the time to sit down and read and I look forward to any other books that Ava decides to write!

Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Inescapable was an exciting read that made my jaw drop on more than one occasion. Amy A. Bartol did such an exquisite job setting the scene that I felt like I was watching a movie play out in front of me while reading.

Evie Claremont is leaving the only person that has always been there for her and going to college. While it may be difficult leaving her Uncle Jim, Evie has bigger obstacles to get around. Reed Wellington isn't making her transition to Crestwood easy. He wants her to leave, to go home and stay away from him, but Evie can't do that. She is there on a full ride academic scholarship that she has no intentions of walking away from. What will it take for Reed to drop his Evie-bashing and just deal with her presence?

I absolutely adored Evie. She was one of the sweetest characters I've ever read because she always put others needs before her own. While she was a little naive, she also fit the part well considering her background. Reed was a completely different story. I wasn't a big fan of him in the beginning because he was one of the rudest characters ever, but as the story progressed, and we learn more about him, his reasons and actions make complete sense. Needless to say, he won me over.

I loved just about everything about this book. The story progressed slowly at times, but picked up as the climax was nearing. I didn't expect half of the twists and turns that occurred, nor did I expect Reed to be what he was. I felt like Evie was the perfect heroine for this story because she was so sweet, innocent, and naive. The supporting characters were all well thought out and I felt like I got to know each of them. While I do have some questions after finishing this book, I'm sure they will be answered throughout the rest of the series.

Overall, Inescapable was a great read that had me dumbfounded on occasion. If you are looking for a gripping paranormal story that will have you on the edge of your seat, look no further!

They’re known as God’s guardians and are distinguishable by their wing color, which is red or crimson and resemble an avian. They’re equal in physical strength to a Power angel when fully evolved. Their symbol is the shield.

Evie’s Supernatural Abilities:
     • Heal from serious wounds – ability to heal quickly and regenerate tissue, sinew and bone rapidly. This is a standard
        angelic trait.

Ella and Micha have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Until one night when the lines of friendship blur and Ella runs. Eight months later, Micha is still looking for her, but he doesn't have to look much longer because she's headed home for the summer. Can Ella's resolve to be the new her hold or will he bring out the old, loud, and rambunctious friend he once new and want to be with?

OMG was this book amazing. Ella and Micha both had rough backgrounds and were well developed characters. They both had demons they needed to face and obstacles to overcome. I love that we get to read this story from both of their points of view. If we didn't, this book would be lacking the hott, breathtaking, and heart-racing qualities I love to find in New Adult titles. I was on the edge of my seat reading until I finished reading the last page.

Overall, if you're looking for a good New Adult title to fall into, you've found it. The Secret of Ella & Micha is a beautiful and exciting book that will forever be in my heart.

Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision.

I really enjoyed reading Trapped. It was a well-written, well-thought-out book that was both eerie and intriguing. Michael Northrop wrote a novel that is reminiscent of being told a story by your best friend. 

Scotty Weems didn't think staying after school to help his friend Jason with his go-kart was going to end by staying at the school overnight. He knew the snow was coming down quickly, but Jason's dad drives a 4-wheel drive truck, so no big deal right?

Putting into words how much I enjoyed this book is impossible. It wasn't like any novel I've ever read before because, while reading, I felt like Scotty was telling me the story as if it had happened, past tense, not currently taking place. He made it conversational on occasion, acting as if he was the storyteller. The further I got into the story and the more Scotty told me about all of the snow that was falling and climbing higher and higher up the school, the most frequently I couldn't help but think, "How much worse could this get?"

I really liked that the seven kids who were put into this situation were all vastly different. Scotty, Jason, and Pete were already friends before the piles of white snow began descending on their school, but the other four kids dealing with the snowpocalypse were either plagued by a reputation or seen as one of the more popular people in school. This in and of itself made things interesting. 

Ovearll, Trapped was a fantastic read that had me hoping for the best but expecting the worst. It made me think about whether or not I would be ready, or even able, to handle being trapped in a building for an extended period of time with no electricity, no heat, and no internet/cell service.

Can Payton find that moment of total fearlessness and make the decision to leave the safe, shallow end of love to risk going under completely?

Going Under

Let me start by telling you that I loved Going Under. If you haven't read it yet, you should before reading any farther. Shallow was just as amazing as Going Under and made my heart happy. Georgia Cates did a phenomenal job writing Payton's story and I can't wait to see if she has one for any of the other characters up her sleeve.

Payton, Clarie, and Jessie have just graduated from high school. Claire and Jessie know what's to come for them, but what about Payton? One small car accident will change her world. The guy she bumps into has a bet to make with her. Neither knew where it would take them, but getting to their happily ever after might just break them.

I loved the little snip-its of Payton in Going Under and was so excited when I got an email from Georgia telling me she was writing a companion novel. However, we didn't really get to see the real Payton in Going Under. We saw the protective, snarky best friend Claire could rely on for anything. Never the feisty, surprising thing she turned out to be in Shallow. I LOVE her! We can't forget Nick, the imfamous boy who sleeps with anything with boobs. He is just oh so hott!

So what did I like? The number one thing that wins me over while reading any books is multiple points of view. We get both Payton and Nick telling their sides  of everything. We see how the actions of one effects the other. I also loved Payton's mouth. She was sarcastic, witty, and never really thought before she said something. This won me over because she sounded so much like me. This made it really easy for me to get into the story. Finally, we got even more of Claire and Jessie's story. So much swoon!

Overall, Shallow was a sweet read that made my heart swell. Now I"m wondering if there may be a book about Nick's sister Dallas in the works. One could only hope.

My Review:

Talk about amazing. My Favorite Mistake is a wonderful addition to New Adult books that kept me entranced and on the edge of my seat. Chelsea M. Cameron has a way with words that left me breathless and wanting more.

Taylor Cladwell has had a rough life. She's locked herself away from all men, rarely trusting. So when Hunter Zaccadelli shows up at her dorm as her new roommate she's more furious than ever before. His good looks and cocky attitude will only get him so far. Will the Ice Queen melt or will he be finding a new place before the semester ends?

I LOVED this book. When I first started reading I thought it was a little reminiscent of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, but that was quickly squashed the further I got into the story. Chelsea M. Cameron created a story with well thought out characters, intense relationships, and an interesting plot. It was fast-paced and I was a goner from the first sentence. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. It was hott, steamy, funny, and oh so swoon-worthy.

Overall, My Favorite Mistake is a new favorite of mine. If you love New Adult books, which deal with college age characters and more adult situations, or you want something I little spicier than the usual Young Adult read, then you should definitely pick up this book up.

An expert ocean diver and reluctant maker of wedding cakes, she longs to leave roses and frosting behind to study oceanography. Alex’s mother won’t have it—needy and dependent, Mom can’t run the family wedding cake business on her own.

No matter what Alex does, things only get worse for her. When she risks her life to save a tourist while scuba diving and becomes the local hero, Mom's angry with Alex for going diving at all. Mom also discourages Alex's new friendship with the insanely wealthy Jeremy, a fun boy with a secret. Then, Alex's best friend, Zack, a hunky island guy, starts to take an interest in her as well. The problem is, he's dating another girl.

As Alex struggles to learn where she stands between her two difficult and confusing Prince Charmings, it occurs to her that maybe what she really needs is a Prince Charming for Mom. If she doesn't do something, she will make cakes all her life and die in her "Sue's Wedding Cakery" apron with a spatula in her hand.

This has to be one of the sweetest, most adorable books I've ever read. Anne Pfeffer did an amazing job depicting a girl who has known cake and failed relationships for all her life.

Alexandra, Alex, has only had one goal in mind, to get off Santa Rita Island. All her life she has spent her free time helping her mom make wedding cakes with no pay, just a roof over her head and the occasional debt. The summer before her senior year is supposed to be spent in a summer program for marine biology, but will she be able to go?

I don't really know where to begin. Maybe with how little Alex's mom seemed to really care about her, but grew to see things from her perspective. Or maybe I should start by saying the ending wrapped the story up in a nice, warm place. Either way, Anne Pfeffer did an outstanding job putting this story together. I fell in love with Alex and a few other characters that we are introduced to. I was giddy reading the last 10 pages of amazingness. The Wedding Cake Girl was cute, funny, down-to-Earth and surprised me a few times along the way.

Overall, The Wedding Cake Girl is the perfect read if you're looking for a quick read that leave your heart melting. A stunning YA Contemporary Romance.
