Oh my lord! Where to begin...

From page one I was captivated by Bell's words. I had a hard time putting this book down and walking away from it.

Told from Juliet's POV is the story of her relationship with her high school sweetheart. He remembers her. He is getting flashes of their relationship before it unfolds. Flashes of him in the desert sand, flat topped buildings, and sheets on clothes lines. He remembers her dress, their first kiss... and somehow he makes it all happen sooner. He is remembering his future, their future.

I was blown away by the detail in this story. It starts in 1994 and Lucan can foresee the future. He sees his life before it happens and he thinks he crazy. Juliet thinks he is crazy. This story was a climax. My heartbeat fluctuated with the details on the page. I swear my heart was racing for the last100 pages. I was so invested in these two characters that I was worried I would miss my next formation.

Once Lucas started learning of his future life and what would happen to his world, I began to question how the story would end. Would it be happy or sad? Would my tears be of joy or heartbreak? I was literally (ask my roommate) sitting on the edge of my seat while reading the last 10 pages. I was so glued to the book that I didn't register text messages and my roomies announcement that formation was canceled.

Needless to say, pick up this book!!! It is rare to find a story that makes you forget there is an outside world. I Remember You is romantic, uplifting, and by far one of the best books I've ever read. This is a must read.

It has been some time since I posted a Dirty Blood review.... or any review for that matter. Since my training is finally slowing down I sent a message to Heather Hildenbrand asking if she needed more reviews for her Dirty Blood Series. Getting back into the story line wasn't difficult and I quickly found my way back into some of my favorite characters lives.

Alex is in a coma and Tara is anxiously awaiting his wake-up. Too bad Steepe is getting closer to having his way and she may not be able to stick around long enough to see him wake and ease her guilt. Little does she know that her world is about to tip on its axis.

As I stated before, it didn't take me long to get back into the story line, maybe a chapter or two. Remembering who the characters were and what role they played came back to me quickly even after a two year break from this series. Being able to fall right back into a storyline after so long away from it is a feat and I applaud Heather and her ease of doing this without repeating all the big detail or giving a brief summary of what happened in the prior book(s).

To say that I love Tara is an understatement because it is rare to find a strong female lead. She is the female who wants to jump right into the fight regardless of who is standing with her. Some may call this reckless (and it kinda is...), but at least she can be reasoned with. Wes, per usual, is willing to do anything for Tara. He's still insecure, but he wouldn't let her go anywhere without him regardless of what consequence he could face.

I think what I love most about this series is the camaraderie within Tara's pack/group of friends. Even when they don't always agree they still find a way to get from point a to point b. I love that Tara is finally realizing that she can do great things and that she needs her pack to succeed. In the prior books, she didn't want to hear her pack in her head, but now she is coming to terms with how her pack shapes her.

Overall, I'm extremely grateful for the time I found in my training schedule to get back to Heather's amazing werewolf series. Don't get lost in the sauce by reading this first. Go back to Dirty Blood and start from square one. If you enjoy paranormal werewolf storylines you'll most likely enjoy this series. After years of reading paranormal and getting burnt out on it I still look forward to the next book in this series.

Everyone knows I love Heather Hildenbrand. Well, one of her friends wrote a book and was looking for reviewers so I told Heather to pass my info along. Talk about best idea ever. Amanda Aksel wrote a charming debut that left me feeling a wide range of emotions and changed my view of some topics regarding men.

No woman ever thinks that her man will cheat... until they walk in on it. Marin Johns thought everyone had that one special someone out there waiting for them, that everyone could have what her parents have, a happily ever after.

There are no words that could convey how amazingly awesome this book is. Marin was amusing to say the least. When I say amusing I don't just mean her comments and actions, I'm specifically talking about her thought process. I couldn't help but laugh my way through her story. She was out to prove that all men are lying, cheating bastards (pardon my French), and in the process turned into a basket case and I could see all the ways every choice she made could go wrong. It doesn't help that she herself is a couples therapist and should know better. I LOVED it.

So what specifically did I enjoy about this book? I loved that Marin reacted exactly as I would have had I caught a guy cheating. I found it ironic that a couples therapist happened to be the one it happened to and it resulted in this huge ordeal. I also liked that one of her best friends was anti-relationship and fully supportive of her "test" while the pro-relationship/happily-ever-after-can-happen other best friend told her not to do this. It's like she had her own personal devil and angel on her shoulders.

While I am completely and entirely in love with the story, at times I felt like I lost faith in men. I mean, I know this is fiction and what not, but being a psychology major I'm starting to question whether humans, as a species, were made to be monogamous. While I questioned the ability of a man to stay faithful, I also thought about what spurred Marin's idea to prove all were cheaters. It all started with a suggestion and that just goes to show what the power of suggestion can do.

Overall, I highly recommend The Man Test to anyone who wants to be amused by a therapist. It was witty, clever, and ingenious. Definitely my favorite read so far this year.

Pet Peeves? Everyone has them. Could you tell us about a few of yours?

I think pet peeves are so strange, even mine. I have two main pet peeves. Toilet paper should roll from above, not below. If yours is wrong, I will change it. The other is when adults make exaggerated excuses for getting out of things like projects or a day at the office. You’re a grown-up, if you can’t or don’t want to do something just say so. I don’t need a song and dance.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would you want and why?

I’ve always loved the notion of witches flying on brooms. I want that superpower. Sometimes I have dreams I can fly, and it’s very freeing.

If we were to take a look at your nightstand, what book(s) would we find?

Let’s see, I have Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Eat to Live, Cindy Chupack’s The Longest Date, and the first Game of Thrones, which I’m getting through little by little.

When you aren’t writing what do you enjoy doing?

I love laying out on the beach, doing things around the house (cleaning and organizing), or watching my favorite TV shows like Greys Anatomy or Sex and the City.

Name 3 things you always have with you when you are writing?

My laptop, the internet (for research), and a nice cup of tea.

Do you listen to music when you write? If so, can you name a few songs that were playing or inspired you while writing The Man Test?

Music inspires so much of my writing. I’m planning a blog post on this topic. The funny thing is I can’t listen to music and write at the same time. I get so distracted by lyrics. But I do create playlists that I listen to when I’m working on a project. There are so many for The Man Test like Little Lies by Anna Ternheim and Don’t Stop Believing by Journey. The most notable would be Hazy by Rosi Golan and William Fitzsimmons. If The Man Test were a film, Hazy would be the feature song.

Can you describe The Man Test in 10 words or less?

Can a heartbroken couples therapist prove all men are cheaters?

Where did you get the idea for this book?

I’ll never forget when it happened. In April 2008, I was working in a real estate office, and all of the sudden I was struck with inspiration. I quickly wrote down the barebones outline (girl is heartbroken, girl meet boy, etc.). It was like the idea came just for me from the universe or God. I had to write it.

Are any of the characters based off of people you know?

Truth be told, I have a few characters loosely based on people I know. The characters are exaggerated versions of those people. They know who they are . . .

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

Yes, I think many women, and men too, have been in a situation where they’ve become suspicious of their partner’s fidelity. You are not alone. I hope The Man Test will allow readers to live vicariously through Marin’s experience and bring some light to a dark topic. Happy Reading!

Review

When I heard that J. Sterling was writing a third and final book for Jack & Cassie, I about died. Jack will forever and always be my number one book boyfriend. After all the ups and downs that those two faced in The Perfect Game (my review) and The Game Changer, they deserved a bit of happiness. The Sweetest Game could not have been a better ending to their story. Hell, it couldn't have had a better ending...that epilogue was heartwarming and I cried happy tears. While this final installation provided them with one small blip, the way they worked together and handled everything that life tossed at them (in the end..) made me wonder if any couple today has that kind of life. The Sweetest Game had me bawling my eyes out, laughing hysterically, and just overall happy and amused. It was the perfect ending for the perfect couple. If you haven't started this series do so, if you have, why haven't you finished it?!

After reading Never Forget by Emma Hart, I've become addicted to her writing style. Not once did I feel bored or think the story was lacking while reading The Love Game. I was held captive from page one and couldn't put it down if I tried!

Both Maddie and Braden are coerced by their friends into playing the game. The objective: to make the other fall in love with them and then walk away as if it never happened. It doesn't take a genius to know that this can only end in disaster.

I must say that both Maddie and Braden were fun characters. Maddie is this really responsible girl who has picked up the pieces of her family time and time again. She's had to deal with a lot of her brothers shenanigans while he slowly destroyed her best friend. Braden, on the other hand, is a complete and total womanizer. He has a huge heart, but not everyone gets to see his kind and caring side.

First and foremost, I loved reading from Maddie and Braden's points of view. I always got a good chuckle when I would read how Maddie thought she was ahead of schedule for #OperationPlayThePlayer and then turn around and read from Braden's point of view and how he thought the game was easy. Before I even picked The Love Game up, I knew how it would end because I've read other books like it, but this one was different. I enjoyed watching their feelings for each other change and I loved that it didn't follow the usual cliche events that one would expect. There were ups and downs that flustered both characters, but that is what made this book hard to put down.

Overall, The Love Game was a fun read. It was a tad cliche, but it was amusing and entertaining to see how their feelings changed from beginning to end. I highly highly highly recommend picking up ALL of Emma's books. They are unique and I've loved each and every one of them.

First Visions was a superb read that kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. After reading, I can't wait to see what else Heather Topham Wood has in store for Kate.

Kate Edwards is this really self-secluded girl. After bringing home the little boy two years ago, she was hounded by reporters and other people with missing family members. I love that she was strong and put aside her feelings to help find the little girl. It only helped that the detective asking for her assistance was a hottie!

First Visions was a very addicting read. There was never a lag in pacing and I enjoyed the fact that some sections were written from the detectives point of view. The story line was unique and left me dying to know where it would head in the next book.

Overall, First Visions was a fantastic read that kept me mesmerized and up way past my bedtime. If you want a story with a strong heroine with visions of those she knows or has seen, pick this book up as soon as possible! You won't regret it.

To say that I loved My Life Next Door would be an understatement. This is probably one of the best debuts I've read. Huntley Fitzpatrick wrote an outstanding, thought-provoking book.

After living most of life looking at her neighbors lives from the outside, one catcher her and introduces himself as Jase. Little does Sam know that this summer will be unforgetable. Not just because of him and his family, but because of the tragedy that's about to strike.

Sam, the sweet, caring, and calm girl from next door, has it all. Her mom is a senator with a trust fund getting ready for reelection. She has two jobs, a friend she can lean on, and now a guy who makes her happy.

My Life Next Door was exactly what I thought it would be, a great read. It was funny, sweet, and made the reader think about how they would react if they were in Sam's shoes. I found myself loving Sam, laughing frequently, and turning page after page without noting page numbers or the time. My world ceased to exist. Then the bomb dropped and I hadn't expected it at all. Sam's perfect world shattered and I read more furiously to know how it would end. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

Overall, My Life Next Door was an awesome read that left me wanting more. This is one of the best contemporaries I've read.

I've only read a few books that are written in a different dialect. Never Forget is one of those books, but I can honestly say that it didn't bother me one bit. In fact, it was quite fun to read. Emma Hart stole my heart from page one and I'll never forget Alec and Lexy's summer romance.

Lexy Edwards has been dreading the summer long visit she would be making to Lilac Bay. Then she gets there and not only does she find out that Grammy ran into her old friend Jen and has a phone number for her favorite granddaughter, but that Grammy also has some very attractive guy working in her garden. Her summer is starting to look up...

I adored Lexy and Alec's story, but to say there wasn't another character that made me smile every time she was around would be a lie. Grammy was a hoot. I mean really. I don't know how many passages I highlighted because she was so open and said things I wouldn't expect a grandma to say. I looked forward to her next appearance because she would make a conversation that I would have expected to be awkward into something lighthearted and hysterical. I can't tell you the number of times I died laughing when Grammy was around.

Besides Grammy's hysterics there is so much to say that I don't know where to begin. I guess first I'll start with how Alec and Lexy ended up together. I love that Alec had to prove himself to her. He was such a womanizer before he met her and I love that he set out on a mission to show her that there was more to him than just the rumors. Going along the same lines, I love that Lexy didn't just give in to him and jump on the summer romance bandwagon before getting to know him. I also love how glued to the pages I was. I was swept away from page one and I enjoyed every minute of Lexy's summer. There was never a time while reading that I found myself bored or uninterested in the story.

Overall, Never Forget was by far one of my favorite new adult reads to date. It was exciting, heartbreaking, and the ending almost did me in. If you want a story that will keep you mesmerized and on a warm beach for a few hours, pick this up asap! You won't regret it!!

Fallen Too Far

Blaire left Rush a few weeks ago and now it's time to go back. It's not where she wants to be, but she can't control everything in her life. She needs away from Cain and her old life and it just so happens that Rosemary has a job waiting for her until she can figure out where she's off to next.

Without giving too much away... OMG RUSH AND BLAIRE!!!! I'm rooting for them like no other. Never Too Far took their relationship to a whole new level. I love that some relationship-y things that bothered me in Fallen Too Far are cleared up now. I can't really say anything else without giving anything away, but I will say this... if you started the series, continuing it is a must!

Overall, Never Too Far left me with happy tears running down my face. I found myself in utter disbelief a few times and my jaw was definitely hanging open during some quite intense scenes. This book has mature content!!

This book was one *squee* after another until things hit the fan. Abbi Glines weaved a fantastic story that ended in a way I never saw coming.

Blaire Wynn's mother just passed away. She had to sell most all of her possessions, including her grandmother's house, to pay off hospital bills. Her father told her to come live with him while she finds a job and gets back on here feet. What she doesn't know is that her father is harboring a secret that may just kill her.

I loved Blaire and wish I had a friend like her. She wears her heart on her sleeve and knows how to take care of herself. She fights for what she wants and doesn't take shit from anyone. 

I really enjoyed reading Fallen Too Far and can't wait to read the next book in the series. The pacing was set perfectly. We got to know Blaire quickly from the start, but slowly got to know Rush and his family. The big secret wasn't one I expected, but looking back there were a few clues that, had I thought more about, would have given the ending a less dramatic effect for me.

Overall, Fallen Too Far was a fantastic read that had me breathless at times. It was a story that left me begging for more! If you are looking for a story where everyone knows something you don't, you will most definitely enjoy this book.... and the guys aren't bad either.
