This Weeks Question:

What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Is it to one day become an author yourself, just for run, maybe get some online attention, or maybe something very different?

There are quite a few reasons for why I started my blog.

1. I read over 150 books in one year.

2. My mom told me to do something productive instead of reading all day, every day.

3. I kept forgetting what happened in some series I read.

4. To do something I've never done and stick to it.

5. A challenge.

6. To share my love of books.

I have no aspirations to become an author.

I would go as far as to say I hate writing, but this is different.

This is for me, for my readers, for other book lovers.

This Weeks Question:
What hyped up book do you think was not
worth all the talk?

While there isn't a super hyped up book that I haven't liked (yet!),
there is one book that got a bit of hype that I didn't enjoy as much as I hoped I would...

I loved this cover and the premise of the story sounded like something I would enjoy.

However, it wasn't as good as it sounded. I don't enjoy reading a book when 

I know how it's going to end when I'm barely 1/3 of the way in. I haven't

posted my review yet, however it will be up soon.

So apparently the question changed since I made this post last night and sometime today, so...

New Q: What hyped up book was worth all the fuss?

This one is so easy for me right now...

Both The Soul Screamers & Morganville Vampire Series have captured my heart.

I have the next couple of books in each series sitting on my shelf to read. 

Oh if only I didn't have to write my thesis these books would be read in no time...

Best Cover? What is the best cover of a book 
that you've read and didn't like?

 I absolutely fell in love with this cover when I first saw it. After reading the summary it sounded like something I would enjoy. Sadly, the story didn't live up to my expectations. My review will be posted sometime next month.

Do your reading habits change based on your mood?
Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

Sometimes. I feel that I read more when I'm trying to avoid something/someone that will make my mood plummet. I guess you could call reading my coping mechanism. I throw myself into reading as a way to forget what's bothering me. Granted this may not be the best thing to do, but I get a lot of reading done. As for the genre based on mood, not really. I will read whatever can grab and hold my attention. If it doesn't have me on the edge on my seat, I avoid it and put off reading.

Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you 
were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

I loved reading 1984 by George Orwell for my AP English 11 class in high school.
It captured me from page one and it is one of my favorite books.
Loved it.

This Weeks Question:

Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

For whatever reason this question is really easy for me this week.

The first book on my list is Blood Song by Rhiannon Hart because it's only available in Australia.
It can be ordered at Fishpond.com, but it's just a tad expensive.
Book number two would be Something Like Normal by Trish Doller because it is one of this years many
 military related books that I haven't purchased yet.

This Weeks Question:
This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother's Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

I actually had to go through a list of books I've read to think about this one because most of the books I've read either leave the mother out or the child has no relationship with their mother.  The only two books/series I've found are Significance by Shelly Crane and Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter.

In Significance Caleb is really close with everyone in his family because what he is.  As he forms his relationship with Maggie, his mom not only becomes the mother she's always needed, but someone she can go to to talk about anything.  She supports Maggie and listens to her fears and accepts her as her daughter.

Psst...if you didn't already know, this is like my favorite series ever!  You should definitely check it out!!   

So *swoon* worthy!

In the Gallagher Girls series, Cammie's mom is the headmistress at her school, but that doesn't mean she can't be both a mother and the one overseeing everyone's education.  She makes time for Cammie every Sunday for their weekly dinners, even though she can't cook, and she is always available if she is needed.  She not only acts like a mother to Cammie, but to all the girls.

This Weeks Question:
Have you had a character that disappointed you?  One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book?  Tell us about him or her.

This is a really hard question to answer.  I've read a lot of different series, but none of the characters come immediately to mind.  Give me a minute to think.....


I guess if I really had to choose a character, it would be Finn from Amanda Hocking's Trylle Trilogy.  In Switched I loved Finn.  He was wonderful to Wendy and my heart was happy.  As the trilogy progressed he became an a**hat.  They had such an attraction to each other, but he kept leading her on.  Finally, when Wendy meets the guy she will spend the rest of her life with, he gets jealous.  Really?


So there you have it.  The only character I can think of that lost my respect.

Fight! Fight!  If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferable from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

I would pick Caleb from Significance by Shelly Crane because he can borrow abilities from people around him and Stark from House of Night by P.C. & Kristin Cast because he can never miss his mark. 

I think Caleb would win because Stark has been struggling with his ability.  Turns out his mark isn't always as clear as he could possibly make it and he ends up shooting the wrong objects.  Caleb, however, is always thinking of Maggie's safety and would be h*ll bent on keeping her safe.

What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaptation of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Significance by Shelly Crane.
If Significance was made into a movie it wouldn't live up to the book because Maggie and Caleb get to know each other through their mind chatter.  Almost all of my favorite scenes happen in the instances where it is just them "talking" in their own world.  I would much rather have my own little movie playing in my head while I read the book.

I've tried reading more than one book at a time and I find that I tend to get the details mixed up.  That being said, I only read one book at a time so I can fully immerse myself in the story.

Everyone should know how much I love Shelly Crane's books by now.

Worst Book:

I haven't read any truly bad books.  I loved all the books I read.  So, I will give my least favorite instead.

The first time I read this, I flew right through it.  The second time it took me a little longer to get into which is why is is my least favorite read in the last month.

Have you ever looked at a book's cover and thought, This is going to be horrible?  But, was instead pleasantly surprised?  Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

Sometimes It Happens by Lauren Barnholdt

Upon picking this book up the cover wasn't bad, kinda pretty right, then I flipped it over and read the summary. I honestly didn't think I would like it.  Not a huge fan of cheating and all that goes along with it.  But, I had read rave reviews about it and I really like all of Lauren Barnholdts other books, so I thought I would give it a shot.  In the end I understood why it happened and how it came to be.  I learned that sometimes things do happen that you try to control, but end up giving into at the very last second.  I don't want to give too much away by getting into all the nitty gritty details of this book, but there are some decisions that each of the three characters' made that had they done differently, could have changed the ending.

This Weeks Question:

What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

There are so many books I would love to see made into a movie or TV show, but sadly I haven't thought of actors/actresses for any of them.  I would be more excited to see the finished product than think of who I would put on my dream cast.  

First, I would love to see Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver as a movie.  Sam goes through an immense character change throughout this book and to see it played out in front of me would be really fun to watch.  Next, Shelly Crane's Significance series would make for a great TV show.  There is so much going on during one book that it could definitely pass for a multi-season show.  The last series I am going to list is House of Night by P.C. & Kristin Cast.  It is an incredibly long series, estimated twelve books when its all over, but I just want to see Zoey & Stark on screen.
